VOLUNTEERS & PARENT HELP
Our Volunteers Make It Happen

Sunnybank Little Athletics is proudly run by volunteers — and we couldn’t do it without the support of our amazing parents, caregivers, and community members.
From timing races to measuring jumps, setting up equipment or helping pack away, every role makes a difference in helping our weekly competitions run smoothly and safely.
Why Parent Helpers Matter
Each Saturday competition involves multiple events running at the same time across the oval. With many athletes competing, we need a team effort to keep things moving, fair, and fun for everyone.
You don’t need any experience — just a willingness to lend a hand!
Common Volunteer Roles
Here are some ways you can help on competition days:
- Age Marshall – support and keep athletes together between rotations, and ensure they stay with the group
- Measure Assist – assist with measuring throws (e.g. shot put, discus) and jumps (e.g. long jump, triple jump)
- Spiker – mark landing spots in throwing and jumping events using a spike or peg
- Recorder – write down or enter results for each event
- Equipment Set Up / Pack Away – help get the field ready at the start and clear it at the end
