Weekly Competition Program:      Season 2011 - 2012

Each Weekly Competition Day will commence at 1:30pm with Sign-In and Warm-ups.

Please REVIEW the Calendar to ascertain the weekly program that is applicable to a specific competition day.

Note: The Events conducted on a specific Competition Day will be conducted in the order as listed, however circumstances might arise on the day or during the season, that may necessitate a change to the order of the events within the age group.

Queensland Little Athletics offers a variety of Track and Field Events to registered members, depending on age groups (U6-U17).  Your How to Help at Little Athletics booklet will provide a summary about each event and discuss safety guidelines.  Equipment specifications relating to each age group and event can be sourced from the QLAA Website. 

At Sunnybank Little Athletics we offer modified events for age groups U6-U10, as follows: 

S/Jump (Standing Jump):  In performing the standing long jump, the athlete stands at a line marked on the ground with their feet slightly apart. The athlete takes off and lands using both feet, swinging their arms and bending their knees to provide forward drive. The measurement taken is the longest of three tries. The jump is a foul if the athlete uses a step at take-off. 

Disc Drill:  The athlete bowls the discus along the ground.  The aim of this drill is to practice discus rolling off the index finger and ensuring it does not wobble. 

Rules are as for discus, except the measurement is taken from where the discus comes to a stop within the sector lines or the point where is leaves the sector lines. 

M/Jump (Modified Jump)  As per long jump rules, except that athlete must take off from the ramp and measurement is taken from the edge of ramp. 

M/Hurdle (Modified Hurdle):  As per hurdle event except the hurdle bars are especially made from a light plastic that falls upon horizontal force being applied in the direction of the athlete's run.  The modified equipment also allows for lower bar heights. 

M/Triple Jump (Modified Triple Jump):  Rules are as per triple jump, except the athlete begins the jump as per standing jump.  The aim is to practice the hop, step and jump from a standing start.
